Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/ - Amendments to the law on the procedure of electing the Moldovan president had their final reading on 30 October. The Communist opposition said that these amendments run counter to the constitution. According to the new procedure, if the first and second rounds of the presidential election fail, repeated elections can be organized. Running for the presidential post can be one more candidates. The special meeting for the presidential election can be postponed if circumstances in this regard exist. If the repeated elections fail, the acting president dissolves the parliament. The amendments specify that the legislative body can be dissolved only once in a year. The Communists described the amendments as non-constitutional and announced intention to appeal to the Constitutional Court.
