Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici met High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini in Brussels on 26 February. The officials addressed the priorities of the new government and Moldova’s European agenda, and analysed the calendar of Moldova-EU ties, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

Gaburici stressed that the Moldovan government counted on the support of foreign partners, due to which Moldova would manage to move forward and, thus, would be able to provide Moldovans with better living standards. „In this respect, the support that we count to get further from the European Union and yours is much more important than ever,” Chiril Gaburici said.

For her part, Federica Mogherini congratulated Chiril Gaburici on the election in office of the new cabinet of ministers. „We are confident that the Moldovan government will enhance efforts to implement key reforms, especially those of the justice and financial sectors, as well as the fight against corruption, for the benefit of all Moldovan citizens,” Mongherini said. The official added that EU would further help Moldova to advance on the European path.

„Europe is ready to provide Moldova with expertise and support in order to overcome the polarised situation it found. There are set clear instruments to cooperate on the joint agenda. The swearing in office of the new government is a signal of resuming the commitments towards the European principles and European path,” Federica Mogherini said.

Mongherini highlighted that she was waiting for the implementation of the Association Agreement with the European Union as soon as possible, for the benefit of people. At the same time, Mongherini underscored that EU reiterated its support for Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, with a special statute for the Transnistrian region, and encouraged the fostering of efforts to peacefully solve the Transnistrian conflict.

Chiril Gaburici is on a two-day official visit to Brussels. Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman is a member of the delegation too.
