Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/- The Administration Council of the National Agency for Regulation of Energy (ANRE) today established for the Vestmoldtransgaz state-owned enterprise a price of 20.90 lei for 1,000 cubic metres for gas transportation. This rate is at the level of the tariff approved in 2011 for the gas transportation service through the transport networks served by the Moldovatransgaz company.

According to ANRE's press service, under a decision by the Council, the rate will be valid till the Agency approves the tariff for gas transportation service under the methodological provisions in force.

The Vestmoldtransgaz company will ensure the gas transportation service through the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline, under the license got in early last January.

The gas will be supplied via the Iasi-Ungheni pipe by the OMV Petrom company, of the OMV Austrian oil and gas group, which concluded an agreement for one year with the Energocom company from Moldova on 22 December 2014. Under the agreement, Moldova will import gas from Romania at about 277 dollars.

A representative of the Vestmoldtransgaz company has recently said the gas import from Romania would start in March. He added that, under technical aspects, all preparations had been finalised and all contracts concluded.

In an interview given to the website, hotnews.ro, Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici, asked on what he would do with the Iasi-Ungheni pipeline and whether he would ensure continuity of the project on the Iasi-Chisinau segment, Gaburici said he would take every measure for the project to become operational. "I will make every effort for this project, of strategic importance for our country, to become fully operational. Given the situation in the region, energy security stays one of the basic priorities of Moldova's government," he said.

The construction of the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline, with a length of 44 km, has been completed in August 2014 and implied investment worth 26 million euros. The second segment, with a length of almost 100 km, up to Chisinau, will be built during the next years.
