Moldovan, Dutch officials broach Transnistrian conflict-related issues

Chisinau, 27 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Victor Osipov met a Dutch delegation today, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
The delegation is made up of: Vice President of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy, member of the European Parliament Hans van Baalen; member of the House of Representatives of the Dutch Parliament, spokesperson for foreign affairs, head of the permanent committee for Armed Forces Han ten Broeke; Secretary in charge of international issues at the Dutch People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) Jock Geselschap; member of the Rotterdam Municipal Council Antoinette Laan; responsible for foreign affairs within VVD Wouter Schroer, and the Bucharest-based Dutch Ambassador to Romania and Moldova Matthijs van Benzel.
Victor Osipov addressed a string of issues related to the Transnistrian conflict settlement and presented the latest evolutions of the Chisinau-Tiraspol dialogue. The sides tackled the promotion of confidence-building measures between the two banks of Dniester, observance of fundamental human rights, ensuring the free movement, situation in the security zone, activity of the sectoral working groups, etc.
Victor Osipov also highlighted that, in order to identify solutions to problems faced by people from the two banks of Dniester, it was necessary to make more dynamic the dialogue with Tiraspol via all the present channels and at all levels.
At the end of the meeting, Osipov thanked the Dutch officials for the interest shown towards the Transnistrian issue and for the support of the Netherlands provided for Moldova’s modernisation and Europeanization.
