Twenty successful initiatives awarded prizes at Eco-Energy Moldova Gala

Chisinau, 5 December /MOLDPRES/ - Twenty successful initiatives for the use and promotion of renewable energy and energy efficiency were awarded prizes at the Eco-Energy Moldova Gala, 2015 issue, held late on 4 December. Over 400 guests, representatives of the Moldovan top leadership, ministers, ambassadors, representatives of international organisations, private sector, academic environment and civil society attended the event. 

"The interest of entrepreneurs in performant and innovative business in the field of renewable resources is on the rise. Starting from 2012, when the Eco-Energy Moldova Competition was launched, and till present, 200 projects on energy efficiency and energy sources have been submitted, of which 65 were awarded prizes," Deputy Prime Minister, acting Economics Minister Stephane Bride has said. 

Private persons, public institutions, private companies, mass media and NGOs forwarded files to the contest this year, a specialist in communication and mass media within the UNDP Energy and Biomass Project. Ina Prisacaru-Zglavuta, said. Public institutions, private persons, enterprises, NGOs are among the competition's winners. 

"All the effort we made together in the energy sector, to improve the living of Moldova's citizens, may yield fruit and be successful only with the commitment of all actors: of the consumers willing to optimise the energy consumption, as well as the entrepreneurs coming up with ideas and initiatives to back this process," European Union Ambassador to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola said.

Eco-Energy Moldova is the biggest contest of awarding successful initiatives in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector. The Eco-Energy Moldova Gala culminates the string of events organised within the Eco-Energy Week. 

"The true reforms take place when people, private sector and civil society launch initiatives meant to complete the government's efforts to reform the energy sector. The success stories we award prizes to represent an impressive proof of these joint efforts," United Nations Resident Coordinator, UN Development Programme Resident Representative in Moldova Dafina Gherceva said. 

The Eco-Energy Moldova is organised by the Agency for Energy Efficiency, in partnership with the Energy and Biomass Project of Moldova, financed by the European Union and Implemented by UNDP Moldova.
