Moldovan premier chairs meeting of Governmental Commission for European Integration

Chisinau, 2 February /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet members today brought together at a meeting of the Governmental Commission for European Integration, to consider a progress report on the carrying out of the National Plan on implementation of the Association Agreement with the European Union, as well as to establish priorities till the meeting of the Association Council, due in next March, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.    

Prime Minister Pavel Filip has said the enforcement of the Association Agreement with EU was a priority of the government. “I found a long list of debts. I can understand the context in which they were allowed, yet it will no longer go like this! From now on, I will personally monitor the observance of the decisions taken in this framework. The debts must be liquidated in 30 days at the latest,” the prime minister.   

Filip demanded the recovery of delays in the implementation of reforms in the sectors of justice and fighting corruption, public administration reform, banking sector reform. “As a rule, governments have at their disposal 100 days to prove their capacities. We do not have too much time available. The commitments taken before EU, but especially before Moldova’s citizens, need to be fulfilled at a high tempo,” Pavel Filip said.  

The PM stressed the importance of coordinating the actions of the cabinet with the ones of the parliament and proposed to organise a common meeting on the implementation of the European agenda, to which the ambassadors of the European Union member states should be invited.  

The members of the Governmental Commission for European Integration found out that the provisions of the National Plan on implementation of the Moldova-European Union Association Agreement had been fulfilled at a level of 63 per cent and ruled to boost efforts of enforcing the priorities for this year.
