Chisinau, 3 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today met Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola. The two officials discussed the implementation of Moldova’s European agenda and boosting the reforms in various sectors, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The prime minister reiterated the government’s determination to quickly advance in promoting measures due to yield real results as soon as possible,  in order to improve the people’s living. Filip said that his team was aware of its full responsibility and believed that the safest way to make progress was the enforcement of the provisions of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement.

“Implementation of the Association Agreement is further the national priority of Moldova, both at the level of the domestic and foreign policy. I reconfirmed this position at a 2 February meeting of the Governmental Commission for European Integration, during which we set to achieve an ambitious goal - removing, in a one-month period, the current debts in carrying out the National Action Plan for implementing the Association Agreement. We realize that this is not easy, yet we will make every effort, will closely cooperate with lawmakers, so that the European agenda becomes common both for the government and parliament," he said.

In this context, Pirkka Tapiola welcomed the prime minister’s proposal to organize, in the nearest future, a joint meeting  with the participation of the cabinet members, leadership of parliament and parliamentary commissions. Ambassadors of the EU states to Moldova are to attend the meeting.

The officials also discussed the priority actions due to be taken in order to prepare for the Moldova-EU Association Council, adjusting the national normative framework to the European standards, strengthening the state institutions, improving the situation in the financial and banking system, as well as the social and economic development of Moldova.

The sides expressed common opinion on the need of firm measures, meant to enhance the trust in the state institutions, by carrying out open communication with the civil society and bolstering relations with foreign partners.
