Moldovan premier, Gazprom official discuss gas supply, bilateral cooperation

Chisinau, 3 March /MOLDPRES/-Prime Minister Pavel Filip held a meeting with the deputy head of Gazprom Russian gas concern, chairman of the administration board of Moldovagaz joint-stock company, Valeriu Golubev, on a two-day visit to Moldova, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
During the meeting, the officials discussed the current state of Russia’s gas deliveries to Moldova and ways to boost up bilateral cooperation.
Filip said the Moldovan government wanted to take concrete actions and implement thorough reforms to improve Moldova’s situation, especially its energy sector. The prime minister added that a constructive and open dialogue would help settle all the problems.
For his part, Golubev reiterated Gazprom’s interest in developing its activity in Moldova. He noted that Gazprom was careful and respectful about its ties with Moldova, in order to find optimal solutions for current problems and ensure a sustainable partnership.
The sides discussed ways to enhance the efficiency of Moldovagaz, restructure its historical debt towards Gazprom and prevent it from growing in the future. They have also tackled investment projects to modernize Moldovagaz and Moldova’s entire energy sector.
