Thousands of Moldovan believers take over Holy Fire brought from Jerusalem for the 14th time

Chisinau, 1 May /MOLDPRES/ - Thousands of believers gathered nearby the Birth of God Metropolitan Cathedral from Chisinau on the eve of Holy Easter on 30 April, in order to take over the Holy Fire brought to Moldova from Jerusalem for the 14th time.

The delegation of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, led by Most Right Reverend Metropolitan Vladimir, who went to Jerusalem to take the Holy Fire, was met by President Nicolae Timofti, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, Prime Minister Pavel Filip, as well as numerous priests and believers who came from all over Moldova.

Upon arriving in the square of the Cathedral, the Metropolitan told the people that the Savior showed mercy to the believers this year as well, as He sent from the Heaven the wonderful sign of His love for the Orthodox Christians.  

Most Right Reverend Metropolitan Vladimir offered sincere thanks to all those who accompanied him in this pilgrimage, as well as to all goodwill people, due to whom the believers of Moldova may bring to their homes the Holy Fire from the Church of the Resurrection of Jerusalem. Afterwards, flames were distributed to all  representatives of the clergy, who brought the life-giving Light to the holy churches of Moldova.  

Most Right Reverend Vladimir conveyed the blessing of Patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Jerusalem Theophilos III to all Orthodox believers from Moldova. ‘’This fire is brought as a heavenly blessing to be distributed to all the churches, monasteries and homes of Moldova,’’ the Metropolitan said.  

The fire is regarded as one of the greatest miracles of the Christians of the Orthodox Church. It takes place every year, in the same way and in the same place. The Holy Fire appears only by invocation of the Orthodox Patriarch.
