Moldovans to benefit from more free of charge medical services

Chisinau, 12 May /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan citizens will benefit from a larger number of medical services covered from mandatory health insurance funds. The government approved a decision on amending a single programme on mandatory health insurances on 11 May, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The new regulations will set clearer principles for contracting health care providers, in line with the needs of people and capacities of the health system, according to the available means of the mandatory health insurance funds approved in 2016.

The list of services provided at the level of family medicine included the ones related to prevention and early detection of diseases, screening, counseling for giving up smoking and provision the young people from risk and vulnerable groups with contraceptives. Also, the document sees promoting and luring of volunteer and unpaid blood donors, pre- and post-test counseling within voluntary and confidential testing services to HIV and viral hepatitis B,C, seekers, including pregnant women in the first and second half of pregnancy, in accordance with the legislation in force.

At the same time, the decision sees covering the expenses for full dental care, except for prosthesis and dental restoration, provided to children aged up to 12 years, for individual prosthetic appliances of patients with malignant tumors, as well as medically assisted human reproduction services.

Increasing access, at  the community level, by developing alternative services to hospital ones, providing medicines and consumables for priority diseases, set by the Health Ministry and National Health Insurances Company (CNAM) from mandatory health insurance funds, as well as integrating mental health services into primary health assistance and developing Community Mental Health Centers are also stipulated in the single programme on mandatory health insurance.

To start early rehabilitation of children aged up to 3 years, the programme comprised early intervention services for newborns aged up to 3 years, with special needs/development disorder and high risk, as well as their families.

The goal of the normative act is to enhance access of insured people to medical services covered from mandatory health insurance funds and to continuously improve the way healthcare services are provided. As a result, the residents will have access to the healthcare services closer to their place of residence, with diminishing the need for them to go to medical institutions providing high performance services from cities.
