Moldovan PM says government manages to put things on right path after six months of mandate

Chisinau, 20 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip, in the beginning of a today’s cabinet meeting, referred to the most important achievements of the cabinet of ministers during the last six months of mandate and priorities for the next phase, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.   

The prime minister stressed that, on a short period, the government had managed to stabilize the banking system, the one which triggered the tough economic blockage Moldova passed through. At the same time, considerable progress has been made in carrying out the Roadmap on priority reforms, assumed before the citizens and development partners in last January.

“We should recognize that the today’s Moldova bears no resemblance to the one of last January. From this point of view, the figures speak for themselves. I do not want to speak about many achievements, but I have statistic figures and say that the average pension increased by seven per cent against April last year, with the ten-per cent indexation which we made even in austere conditions of work,” Pavel Filip said.   

The PM noted that, on this period, the revenues to the state budget, collected by the State Fiscal Service and Customs Service, had grown by over 1.5 billion lei against the same period last year. Also, the industrial output increased by one per cent in the first three months and the processing industry grew by 3.3 per cent.

At the same time, Pavel Filip also touched upon measures regarding the important structural reforms. The prime minister spoke about measures undertaken to remove administrative obstacles to the business environment, referring, in particular, to the reform of control bodies and reducing the number of permissive acts.  

In the end, the prime minister thanked the cabinet for the effort made during this time. He said that the next period was crucial Moldova, and emphasis would be put  implementation of reforms and boosting the relations with foreign partners, including the International Monetary Fund. At the same time, the PM underlined that Moldova can no longer afford committing errors in managing money, due to lead to funds’ blocking.  

“Dear colleagues, you must be very attentive with how do you spend public money, it should be spent in time and correctly. Otherwise, you have my promise of honour that the one who will spend the funds inefficiently, maybe will be dismissed in the best case, if the investigation bodies will not deal with him/her,” the prime minister added.  

The government led by Pavel Filip received the parliament’s vote of confidence on 20 January 2016.
