Moldovan PM, high European advisers discuss reforms' good implementation

Chisinau, July 23 /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip has had a working meeting with senior advisers, delegates from the European Commission, to assist authorities in the implementation of reforms and enforcement of the provisions of the EU - Moldova Association Agreement. Attending the meeting was also Head of EU Delegation in Chisinau Pirkka Tapiola, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

In the beginning of the meeting, the prime minister thanked the experts for their active participation in implementing reforms, noting that the Moldovan authorities relied on their experience in the development and enforcing regulations concerning public policy. At the same time, Pavel Filip said that he wanted to have open discussions on very specific issues identified in the institutions where advisers were delegated and their vision for improving the situation. 

“I am glad that I can be consulted by such a team of professionals. This matters a lot for the Moldovan government and I thank the European Union for support to this end. The truth is that some authorities have limited capacities to reform and assimilate the European standards in activity. Therefore, we need your support in institutional strengthening and proper implementation of the reforms underway,” the prime minister stressed.

Attending the talks, Head of EU Delegation in Chisinau Pirkka Tapiola encouraged the government to continue active implementation of reforms, stressing that the results were already visible, both internally and in relation with EU, which has lately developed a lot. Tapiola also reiterated the support for implementing the necessary measures to develop the country, stressing that the high-level experts had namely this mission. 

The discussions were focused on major reforms launched by the government, the senior advisers’ visions and proposals on their proper implementation, as well as fulfillment of commitments taken before the European Union. In this regard, the European experts have come up with a string of proposals of concrete measures that can be taken to stabilize the situation in different sectors, as for a short period of time, so for long term. At the same time, experts appreciated the openness of the government and civil servants for cooperation and takeover of the European best practices in sectoral activity. 

Twenty six high-level advisers were delegated to assist the public institutions in implementing the reforms agenda, within the project EU High Level Policy Advice Mission to Moldova. The PM is advised by five European experts in public administration reform, financial sector, anti-corruption, justice, communication and transparency.
