Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/- The Economics Ministry forecasts an increase in export of goods in 2017-2019 by about 5.7 per cent annually, and import by almost 4.7 per cent.

According to the ministry’s experts, the factors due to contribute to gradual increase in exports in the above-mentioned period are: restoring foreign demand, domestic supply of agricultural products, quality increase in exports, especially, due to the investments made in extending and renewing technological base, and respectively, integration of Moldovan products into international flows.

To extend and diversify export markets for Moldovan products, as well as given the existence of increased interest from local economic agents in the agri-food sector to set trade relations with China and Egypt, the Economics Ministry started consultations on opportunity to negotiate possible free trade agreements with the states.

Moreover, the free trade agreement between Moldova and Turkey will enter into force in the nearest future. The agreement is meant to promote mutual commerce, develop economic relations between countries and contribute to removing barriers in trade and extending trade exchanges, as well as to creating conditions to continue drawing investments in the two states.

The increase in import will be subject to restoring domestic demand, especially, for raw material, increase in investment flow, especially, machines, electrical appliances, mineral products. Major share of imports will come to energy resources, due to the economic growth scheduled in the basic sectors of economy, mainly oil and gas prices.
