Students of Moldovan Academy of Sciences' University receive scholarships from Romanian Royal House

Chisinau, 12 December /MOLDPRES/ - A ceremony on handing education scholarships “Regele Ferdinand” (King Ferdinand) and Regina Maria (Queen Marry) to students of the University of Moldova’s Academy of Sciences (ASM) took place at the University.

Attending the event were Prince Radu of Romania, the head of the Moldovan parliament’s commission for culture, education, research, youth, sport and mass media, Vladimir Hotineanu, Education Minister Corina Fusu, Romanian Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ionita, ASM President Gheorghe Duca, teachers, students.     

In his speech, the ASM University rector, Maria Duca, thanked for the fact that the institution she leads had been selected for this event by the Royal House out of the over 20 universities of Moldova.   

“We are honoured by the presence at our institution of Prince Radu of Romania – an outstanding personality who asserted himself in the social, cultural and scientific fields, and in particular, in the military sciences sector, as he was elected doctor honoris causa of the ASM University in 2015,” Maria Duca said.    

For his part, Prince Radu of Romania said that Moldova was a “blessed and put to test” country, stressing that this meeting fit into the events dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Royal House’s foundation.  

According to Prince Radu, besides the two scholarships, in the long run, the Royal House will also set another two ones for students of the Comrat University – scholarships “Regele Mihai” (King Michael) and Regina Maria.   

A trainer for master’s degree of the Exact Sciences Faculty (chemistry), Daniel Podgornii, was offered the King Ferdinand scholarship and another student from the same faculty (IT specialty), Ana Nastasiu, received the Regina Maria scholarship.

Daniel Podgornii thanked for the honour offered him, noting that he would donate this scholarship to children sick with cancer.  

The Royal House scholarship is worth 1,000 euros.
