Moldovan deputy premier visits eastern district

Chisinau, 21 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Balan on 20 March paid a working visit to the eastern Dubasari district. During the visit, the official and representatives of the local public administration, as well as residents of the district discussed the most pressing problems they face, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.     

In the beginning of the meeting, the deputy prime minister referred to the reforms launched by the government, speaking about the indexation of pensions and social payments, increase in salaries for some categories of civil servants, etc.  

Another important aspect tackled by Gheorghe Balan at the meeting was focused on the Transnistrian file. He informed about the present situation in the negotiating process, aspects of the Chisinau-Tiraspol dialogue. Balan stressed that the Moldovan authorities kept a string of priority subjects on the agenda: farmers’ access to their farmlands; ensuring proper conditions for the work of the Latin-script schools from the Transnistrian region; removing barriers to the free movement, etc.  

The deputy prime minister emphasized the fostering of the bilateral dialogue with Ukraine, especially concerning the promotion of the cross-border cooperation, including by setting joint Moldovan-Ukrainian control at the border checkpoint Kuchurgan-Pervomaysk.

On visit, the official had meetings with residents of the villages of Molovata, Molovata Noua, Corjova, Cocieri and Cosnita from the Dubasari district. The dialogue was interactive. Gheorghe Balan stressed that he would analyze each case separately, in order to efficiently intervene and contribute to the settlement of problems faced by the residents from the region.  

The deputy prime minister made an appeal to the local authorities to actively get involved in working out projects that would serve as basis for attracting investments in settlements of the Security Zone, to develop business and create new jobs.
