Moldovan government sets new rules of state educational institutions hostels function

Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ – At the beginning of the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers today, Prime Minister Pavel Filip raised the subject on the request of students requiring free access in hostels after 24.00, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The prime minister stressed the importance of correlating initiative of students with the right to autonomy and internal rules of each educational institution, separately. However, Pavel Filip invited all interested subject sides to an open and constructive dialogue.

"We have got some other more serious problems in education, so my message to those who collected these signatures – it was easier to come to tell us this request to the Government and recently we could have solve this problem. On this occasion, I want to launch an invitation to come and discuss other issues in education that are publicly debated," said Prime Minister Pavel Filip.

At the proposal of the Ministry of Education, the Government approved the Framework Regulation on functioning of hostels subordinated to state educational institutions.

The document consists of the need to harmonize the legislation with the Code of Education. The changes approved today provide to calculate accommodation based upon unique terms for all state educational institutions, as to exclude mismatch between accommodation fees of various institutions.

Also, decisions on free access after 24.00 in hostels of educational institutions will belong to University senates.
