Moldovan government, Government of His Serene Highness Prince of Monaco sign framework agreement on cooperation

Chisinau, 4 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prince Albert II of Monaco pays a visit to Moldova, at an invitation by Prime Minister Pavel Filip. The officials today had a bilateral meeting, followed by an enlarged meeting of the delegations. At the event, the sides discussed possibilities of deepening the bilateral cooperation in diverse sectors and set priority trends of cooperation, the communication and protocol department has reported.    

Following the meeting, the sides signed a framework agreement on cooperation between the Moldovan government and the Government of His Serene Highness Prince of Monaco, which expresses interest in the deepening of cooperation in all fields of mutual interest.  “I am sure that this agreement will serve as a platform, on the basis of which other sectoral bilateral agreements are to be negotiated and signed. I want to offer, also by this way, thanks for the willingness showed on behalf of Monaco to boost the bilateral collaboration and strengthen the Moldova-Monaco legal framework,” Prime Minister Pavel Filip said in this context.        

According to the framework agreement on cooperation, among the priority fields, there are: environmental protection and exploring renewable energies, exchange of experience in the adoption and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, agriculture and agro-food industry, tourism and hotel services, culture, education and sport.    

To promote concrete projects of Moldova-Monaco cooperation in the environment sector, a Memorandum of Understanding between Prince Albert II Foundation and the Moldovan Environment Ministry was signed also today.   

On this occasion, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation expressed intention to consider possibility to back certain projects on environment in Moldova, which would allow facilitating the work of the first National Park on the country’s territory - Orhei National Park, as well as elaborating ten plans on conservation for ten species of birds from Ramsar Zones, included in the Red Book.
