Moldovan PM, Prince Albert II of Monaco set priorities of bilateral cooperation

Chisinau, 4 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Prince Albert II of Monaco Principality, on a visit to Chisinau, have referred to priority sectors of bilateral cooperation at a joint news briefing. Pavel Filip stressed that the visit of His Serene Highness was a historical one, which will give an impetus to the bilateral cooperation and will allow identifying new opportunities to turn to good account the potential of collaboration between Moldova and Monaco Principality, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.      

“I would like to offer thanks for the sincere and friendly discussion I had with His Highness. We have reviewed more goals of common interest. We approached, first of all, ways of action to develop our bilateral relations, especially as there is a wide potential to this end, either we speak about the economic component or the development of cooperation in diverse sectors,” Pavel Filip said.    

The prime minister appreciated the support provided by the Monaco Principality in the field of fighting the trafficking of human beings and promoting programmes on backing children from Moldova. Filip stressed that the initiation of joint projects represented a clear-cut proof of the firm commitment to the development of the strategic partnership.    

The PM expressed interest in the initiation of cooperation in the environment sector in the long run, highlighting the activity of the Prince Albert II Foundation as to the protection of the environment and sustainable development. Pavel Filip thanked Prince of Monaco for intention to provide Moldova with assistance for the restoration of the Chisinau-based Botanical Garden, hit by the late last April bad weather.    

For his part, Prince Albert II of Monaco Principality noted that he was happy to be able to help re-establish the Botanical Garden, seriously hit by the snowfall from last April. “Through the Foundation, we will promote projects of common interest in the environment sector. I appreciate the dialogue which we develop and which contributes to the rapprochement between the Monaco Principality and Moldova,” the Prince of Monaco said.        

The officials paid special attention to cooperation in the commercial and economic sectors and stressed the importance of organization, for the first time ever, of a forum of business people from Moldova and Monaco Principality.   

The discussions between the sides were focused also on cooperation within the International Organization of La Francophonie, possibilities to boost cooperation within the United Nations Organization and specialized agencies. At the same time, the officials tackled the subject on regional and international security.
