Moldovan PM starts official visit to Czech Republic

Chisinau, 9 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip is on an official visit to the Czech Republic, at an invitation by his Czech counterpart Bohuslav Sobotka. Today, the two prime ministers had a face-to-face meeting, after which discussions continued at an enlarged meeting of the two delegations, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

The Moldovan and Czech PMs highlighted the advanced level of bilateral cooperation, benefits of the strategic partnership and set new prospects of collaboration. In the context, Prime Minister Pavel Filip thanked the Czech side for the constant support provided to Moldova to promote European integration efforts; he stressed that the enforcement of the Moldova – EU Association Agreement remains the priority No 1 of Moldova. At the same time, the Moldovan PM emphasized the valuable assistance the Czech government was providing to key sectors of the Moldovan economy. Filip stressed the cooperation to implement the vine and wine register, in the domestic affairs sector, in order to enhance access to the European standards in the constructions sector, support provided by the Czech side in the territorial planning in Moldova.     

The Moldovan-Czech commercial and economic ties also record a positive dynamic; nevertheless, the economic potential is much bigger. “Fifty three enterprises with Czech capital, with investments worth six million dollars, are already working in our country. Nevertheless, the pragmatic cooperation on the commercial and economic dimension remains a major goal. We invite Czech entrepreneurs to extent their business in Moldova. The government will take sustained efforts to ensure an as attractive as possible business environment,” Pavel Filip said.    

For his part, the Czech prime minister underlined that the maintenance of Moldova in the list of states of interest for the Czech economy in the export promotion strategy for 2012-2020 proved the Czech Republic’s commitment to back Moldova for long term. “The Czech Republic is willing to provide Moldova with support to implement modern technologies in the agriculture sector, in carrying out social reforms, in the sector of constructions and regional development,” Bohuslav Sobotka said.    

The third meeting of the inter-ministerial commission for economic cooperation will be held in Chisinau in next September, to deepen the trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. A Moldovan-Czech business forum will take place at that time as well.     

Prime Ministers Filip and Sobotka also considered subjects on cooperation within international organizations, regional and international security, Transnistrian conflict settlement by means of political talks, with the observance of Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
