Moldovan premier meets Romanian minister delegate for European affairs

Chisinau, 19 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today had a meeting with Minister Delegate for European Affairs of Romania Ana Birchall, on a visit to Chisinau to participate in a meeting of the Moldova-Romania Inter-governmental Commission for European Integration. The PM informed the Romanian official about the latest evolutions in Moldova, including about the ambitious agenda of  government’s reforms and the cabinet’s firm determination to implement the Association Agreement with the European Union.

According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the PM thanked Romania for the constant support provided to Moldova to carry out the European agenda. ‘’We appreciate both the support provided at the practical level though sharing the experience and assistance offered to promote reforms and the backing at the political level through the messages and actions undertaken within EU and the North-Atlantic space,’’ Pavel Filip said.  

The PM also thanked the Romanian side for the providing of the repayable loan worth 150 million euros, as well as for the non-refundable assistance used to repair kindergartens and buy school vehicles. Pavel Filip referred, in particular, to the importance of joint projects in the gas sector and electric energy, the implementation of which will contribute to enhancing the energy security of Moldova.  

For her part, Romanian Minister Delegate for European Affairs Ana Birchall congratulated the Moldovan government for the progress made. ‘’The essential role in regaining the trust of foreign partners belongs to Moldova and its governmental team. Romania has proved transparency and consistency in backing Moldova on the European integration way and further remains the firmest supporter to achieve this goal,’’ Ana Birchall said.

The official also said that the future presidency of Romania at the EU Council,  scheduled for the first half of 2019, was important for the joint efforts of advancing the European integration of Moldova. In the context, the Romanian minister voiced confidence in the efficiency of the Moldova-Romania Inter-governmental Commission for European Integration, the next meeting of which is to be held in Romania in October 2017.
