Moldovan PM unveils report on government's activity

12:30 | 26.05.2017 Category: Political

Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip today presented a report on government’s activity for 2016.

He thanked the legislators for their support for the government’s work, as well as for the package of laws adopted in 2016.

“Our country plan remains European integration and all actions of the government have been conceived and carried out in order to get Moldova closer to the EU. We have fulfilled our promises made in taking over the mandate and, as promised, we have paid increased attention to the reform of justice and fight against corruption. Statistics show that 36 judges have been convicted for corruption, and detentions have also occurred in the political environment. Judicial activity was one of the factors that allowed us to regain the trust of foreign partners. A clear sign of relaunching relations with the EU was the signing of a new agreement with IMF”, Filip said.

The premier noted that in 2016, over 65 per cent of exports were made to EU, the highest index registered by Moldova so far. “The economic growth of 4 per cent is a performance, considering the crisis faced by Moldova in early 2016. We did what many said we would not succeed. I also note the 18-per cent-growth in agriculture. These achievements are largely due to measures taken by the government, reducing controls and setting the 7-per cent-tax for industrial park residents. This government keeps its promises: 2016 was the year of stabilization, 2017 is the year of growth and investments”, he said.

He also pointed out resumption of negotiations in the 5+2 format. He voiced confidence that the negotiations were the only way to reintegrate the country. He added that Moldova had to collaborate with all partners in the region in the security sector, including with NATO.

MPs and ministers of the Liberal Party were absent from the parliament meeting.
