Moldovan prime minister, Commissar discuss on European reforms

Chisinau, 11 July /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip had a meeting with EU Commissar for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, today, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The Prime Minister welcomed the participation of the European high official at the meeting of the Informal Ministerial Dialogue of the Eastern Partnership, hosted by Chisinau, as a signal of confidence from the European partners.

In the context, the Prime Minister noted that the priorities of the EU reform process were taken into account at drafting the Association Agenda, which is to be finalized this week. Meanwhile, the second Government-Parliament Joint Road Map was drafted and signed on the priority reform agenda. The document contains 59 actions to be implemented by December 2017. The roadmap will also be forwarded to the European institutions.

Also, the head of the Executive expressed the hope that the summit in Brussels on 24 November 2017 would be a step forward in offering a general perspective on Moldova's EU accession, helping to accelerate the implementation of reforms and convince citizens to have even more trust to the European project.

EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, said the EU would continue to support the European path of Moldova and encouraged the authorities to continue implementing reforms that deliver tangible results on the population’s living standards.

The officials also exchanged views on the draft amendment to the electoral system of Moldova. The Prime Minister said that it was currently worked to incorporate the technical and legal recommendations of the Venice Commission into the text of the law so that all democratic rules to be respected and any types of abuses during the elections be prevented.
