Moldovan cabinet approves decision on reorganization of central public administration

Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved a decision on the reorganization of the central specialty public administration. Prime Minister Pavel Filip has specified that, in this way, the government started implementing the last week decision by the parliament, which accepted the new structure of the government.  

According to the provisions of the draft, the reorganization will be made via absorption, as follows:  

The Economics Ministry will change its name into the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry and will absorb the Transports and Roads Infrastructure Ministry and the Information Technology and Communications Ministry;

The Culture Ministry will change its name into the Education, Culture and Research Ministry and will absorb the Education Ministry and the Youth and Sport Ministry;

The Labour, Social Protection and Family Ministry changes its name into the Health, Labour, and Social Protection Ministry and will absorb the Health Ministry;

The Regional Development and Constructions Ministry changes its name into the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry and will absorb the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry and the Environment Ministry;

Also, according to the draft, the powers in the constructions sector, presently exercised by the Regional Development and Constructions Ministry, are transferred to the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry and the competences of working out, ensuring the implementation, monitoring and assessing the public policies in the research sector, currently exercised by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, are transferred to the Education, Culture and Research Ministry.   

At the same time, in the draft, the ministries are set a string of tasks, which are to be fulfilled in a short period, so that the draft’s provisions are properly implemented.  

Prime Minister Pavel Filip presented the new structure of the government and the list of ministers, as follows:

1. Economics and Infrastructure Ministry - Octavian Calmic. 

2. Finance Ministry - Octavian Armasu.

3. Justice Ministry - Vladimir Cebotari.

4. Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry - Andrei Galbur. 

5. Interior Ministry - Alexandru Jizdan. 

6. The Defence Ministry will be temporarily led by Deputy Minister Gheorghe Galbur.

7. Education, Culture and Research Ministry - Monica Babuc. 

8. Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry Stela Grigoras. 

9. Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry - Vasile Bitca.
