Moldovan premier gets congratulations of Romanian president on success in managing government to helping citizens

Chisinau, 20 September /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister of Moldova, Pavel Filip, met with President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, today within margins of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The two officials exchanged views on topical issues of the bilateral relations agenda, as well as on the European reform one of Moldova.

In this context, the Prime Minister thanked the Romanian Government for the valuable assistance given to Moldova in the implementation of reforms and in realization of major projects with a social impact, in line with the bilateral Strategic Partnership for European Integration, as well as the Romanian support at the level of the European institutions. Pavel Filip noted, in particular, allocation of the two financial installments, support for the repair of kindergartens, provision of school minibuses, as well as cooperation in the field of energy.

Similarly, the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, congratulated Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, for having managed the government in a way that helps the Moldovan citizens. The head of the Romanian state said in the context that Romania could and should help Moldova regardless of the approaches of some politicians.

"Romania can help Moldova, help the Moldovans. It is important to help Moldova institutionally: Moldovan state, Moldovan citizens, Moldovan institutions that need reforms," said the President of Romania. Klaus Iohannis confirmed Romania's willingness to allocate the third installment of the loan to Moldova.

In other order of ideas, the officials exchanged views on the Transnistrian issue and the latest developments in negotiation process. In this context, Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, asked for Romania's support to include on the agenda of the UN General Assembly session a point on the withdrawal of foreign armed troops from the territory of Moldova.

The Chief of Chisinau Executive also reiterated the interest of Moldova in increasing the effectiveness of the Eastern Partnership cooperation, urging Romania to support the promotion of the idea of ​​maintaining that platform for intensifying cooperation with partner states, including by stimulating their pro-European ambitions.

At the end of the meeting, Romanian President, Klaus Iohannis, encouraged the Moldovan authorities to progress in the implementation of the initiated reforms, underlining Romania's willingness to continue the cooperation with Moldova as to carry out the projects aimed at modernizing of Moldova.
