Several Moldovan localities affected by hailstorms

Chisinau, 22 September /MOLDPRES/- Several localities in the country were affected by heavy rain with strong winds and hail that occurred on 21 September.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies of the Interior Ministry, in Floresti district, Cunicea settlement, hail affected over 100 hectares of orchard, and 45 hectares of orchards and 21 hectares of soybean were destroyed in Soldanesti district.

At the same time, the strong wind damaged the roof of the gymnasium in Oliscani village, Soldanesti district, and several houses from Chersac, Telenesti district, remained uncovered.

A press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, Lilian Puscasu, said that in the coming days, the committees for territorial emergencies are expected to estimate the amount of damage after assessing the consequences. “We will get additional information during the day, then we will come up with details presented in the territorial reports”, Puscasu said.

According to data by the State Hydrometeorological Service, rainfalls are forecast for the coming days throughout the country. Minimum air temperatures will be up to +9 degrees at night in the north of the country, and +22 degrees during the day in the south of the country.
