Moldovan foreign minister meets with Italian counterpart

Chisinau, 24 October /MOLDPRES/ – In the margins of the Mediterranean Conference of the Organization for Security and Co – operation in Europe, which is being held these days in Palermo. Deputy Prime Minister, Andrei Galbur, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, met with Italian Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister, Angelino Alfano, today, the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.
During the talks, it was carried out an extensive exchange of views on the issues of topicality of the bilateral relations, as well as on the European reform agenda of Moldova.
The officials welcomed the excellent character of Moldovan-Italian relations. There was expressed the willingness of both parties to intensify the exchange of high – level visits, including in the context of the takeover of the OSCE Chairmanship-in-Office in 2018. Similarly, the two ministers agreed to deepen commercial – economic cooperation, people – to – people contacts, and to strengthen the Moldovan-Italian legal framework, especially in the social field.
Deputy Prime Minister, Andrei Galbur, appreciated greatly the political support given by the Italian Government to Moldova’s efforts to modernize and align with the European standards, expressing their thanks for the assistance provided, especially in the areas of internal affairs and defence, as well as in other sectors.
At his turn, Minister Angelino Alfano gave full support to Moldova.
