Moldovan Wine Day marked in Portugal

Chisinau, 31 October /MOLDPRES/- The 3rd issue of the Moldovan Wine Day took place on Sunday in Oeiras, Portugal, at the Marques de Pombal Palace.
The event was organized with the support of the National Vine and Wine Office of Moldova, Oeiras city hall and Carcavelos Brotherhood Association. Its aim was to promote quality of Moldovan wines and traditional gastronomy among the Portuguese. Thus, during the celebration, over 120 visitors managed to taste traditional Moldovan wines and dishes. Also, the national traditions and Moldovan folklore were presented.
Attending the event were Moldovan Ambassador to Portugal Dumitru Socolan, Advisor of Embassy Valeriu Ostafii, mayor of Oeiras city Isaltino Morais, businessmen working in the wine and trade, as well as Portuguese bloggers.
Socolan reiterated the Moldovan government’s commitment to strengthen the bilateral relations and boost the economic cooperation between Moldova and Portugal. “It is very important to involve diaspora representatives in the economic development of the country, as well as the need for their active involvement in events promoting national customs and traditions. Such events every year get a large scale among the Portuguese, who are eager to know culture and traditions of the Moldovan people, and also get a temptation to visit our country”, Socolan said.
The National Wine Day was held in Moldova on 7-8 October. Attending the 16th issue of event were 47 wineries, which presented the newest products that will appear on the market this year.
