Moldovan PM meets EU high-level advisers

Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/ - The reforms promoted by the cabinet and priorities of activity for the next period were analyzed at a today’s meeting between Prime Minister Pavel Filip and High-Level Advisers of the European Union. Attending the discussions was EU Ambassador to Moldova Peter Michalko, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

The dialogue was interactive. The EU high-level advisers referred both to the progress made in the sectors within their competence and the problems due to be settled. PM Pavel Filip noted that he appreciated much the support and expertise provided by the EU advisers, which is particularly important on the period of the government’s reformation.   

The prime minister specified that the central administration’s reform was at the final stage. The state secretary generals were appointed in most ministries and the contest for the positions of state secretary will be soon completed. Pavel Filip stressed that the government’s reform was aimed at enhancing the capacities of the public institutions and optimizing their work. “I am fully confident that we move in the right direction. The implementation of the reforms’ agenda will continue during the next year as well, even if it is an electoral year,” Pavel Filip said.

At the same time, the PM specified that the reforms were not carried out for the foreign partners, but for the Moldovan citizens. Thus, the reforms of the pensions’ system, implemented at the government’s initiative, have yielded results already. The same way will be with the government’s reform as well, Pavel Filip said. The prime minister said that it is important that the cabinet has capacity to establish its priorities by itself and ensures an as efficient as possible use of the foreign assistance.   

For his part, EU Ambassador to Moldova Peter Michalko said the European Union was open for further providing Moldova with every support in the implementation of the Association Agreement and the reforms for the benefit of the citizens.  

In the context, PM Pavel Filip urged the EU High-Level Advisers to closely cooperate with the team of advisers of the cabinet of ministers and the members of the Centre for Reforms’ Implementation. So that, in this period of chances, the efficient carrying out the reforms are ensured.   

Presently, 21 advisers delegated by the European Union provide consultancy to the government in the implementation of the reforms’ agenda.
