Chisinau, 12 January /MOLDPRES/ - A group of mothers said to have suffered in the wake of interaction with Moldova’s medical system, today submitted a declaration to more state institutions, thereby presenting more claims.

The declaration contained attached histories of 98 women who faced deficiencies in the medical system on the period of pregnancy and the one of birth. The requests were submitted concomitantly to the government, Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, Office of the Ombudsman and National Anticorruption Centre.

‘’Women continue sending us their personal histories, showing that there are abuses and other quite serious problems in the antenatal medical system. It is good that these women have got courage to speak. They disclose more situations of humiliation, discrimination, corruption and malpractice,’’ a co-signatory to the declaration, Alina Andronache, said.

‘’By this declaration, we demanded the carrying out of controls all over the country, in order to see the professional education of medical staff. Also, we explained that it is quite necessary that there is psychological counseling in the medical institutions from Moldova. We are to receive an answer in 14 days. I hope that the voice of these women will be heard, measures will be taken and the situation will change in the system,’’ Andronache noted.

The declaration was also backed by 36 NGOs. It was submitted, after a young woman had recently charged physicians of the Mother and Child Institute of negligence at work. The young woman said that, although the birth had been induced to her medically, she was left to make abortion by herself in a WC of the institution, being ignored by physicians and assistants.
