Moldovan meteorologists announce Yellow Code of heat

Chisinau, 13 June /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) today announced Yellow Code of dog days and exceptional fire danger till 15 June.    

According to meteorologists, the maximum air temperature will reach +33 - +34 Celsius degrees mainly in the districts of the central and southern Moldova.  

On the same period, the Yellow Code of fifth-degree exceptional natural fire danger and threat with fire of forest belts and agricultural crops remains valid.  

Also, according to SHS specialists, the Yellow Code of hydrological drought is in force till 18 June. Hydrologists find out drought in the rivers and lakes from Moldova because of the lack of precipitation and high air temperatures. “We ask economic agents and residents to rationally consume water resources,” a communiqué by the institution reads.  

Given the intense heat and drought established in Moldova, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) warned the residents about observing the anti-fire rules. Firemen asked citizen not to set fire to dry vegetation and domestic waste, avoid making stakes and setting fire to stubble fields, and in case of fire, maybe insignificant, call the 112 service. At the same time, if extraordinary situations are noticed in woods or adjacent areas, specialists of the Moldsilva Forestry Agency ask to be called at the hotline 022 211 311.     

For their part, physicians warn chronic ill people, especially those with cardiovascular diseases and the ones of the respiratory apparatus, elderly people, pregnant women and children to avoid exposing to sun in torrid hours. “During summer, in intensive heat, light clothes are indicated, preferably of natural linen and light colours, the head should be necessarily covered, the hydrating must be sufficient and a proper nutrition regime,” more medical sources said.
