Chisinau, 10 August /MOLDPRES/- The Law on ratification of the Loan Agreement between Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on the implementation of the project "Interconnection of electricity networks between Moldova and Romania, Phase I" was published today in the Official Journal.

The agreement provides for a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, amounting to EUR 80 million, for the implementation of the aforementioned project. The financial means will be used to construct, equip and put into operation the electrical interconnection between the Republic of Moldova and Romania. The term of the agreement is 18 years, including the grace period of three years.

The final goal is to construct, equip and put into operation the electrical interconnection between the Republic of Moldova and Romania, including a BtB station in Vulcanesti, a 400 kV transmission line between Vulcanesti and Chisinau, the extension of the transformation station in Chisinau and the extension of the Vulcanesti station 400 kV.

According to the authorities, the investment will be recovered from the regulated electricity transmission tariff.

The Loan Agreement between Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on the implementation of the project "Interconnection of Electricity Networks between Moldova and Romania, Phase I" was signed in Chisinau on 20 December 2017.
