Chisinau, 06 December /MOLDPRES/ – Over 20 localities in Moldova hosted in 2018 meetings with readers during the 7th issue of the National campaign to promote reading: Let us read together!, held in January – December, which has ended on 06 December – a summit conference at the National Library for Children Ion Creanga in Chisinau.

The issue of 2018 was devoted to books:  Lumina glasului launtric (The light of inner voice) by Vasile Romanciuc and Ingerii dispar in ploaie (The angels disappear in the rain) by Aurelian Silvestru. Both volumes appeared with the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC) within the and were distributed to the public libraries in Moldova throughout the office of the National book publishing programme at the National Library of Moldova (BNM).

Interviewed by agency, the head of institution, Claudia Balaban, mentioned that the purpose of the campaign is to promote reading and book value in the  villages and cities of Moldova. "Until a few years ago, the campaign was called: "The children of Moldova read a book". But we realised that, along with children, I read the recommended books both for teens and for adults. At the suggestion of parents and teachers, we changed the name of the project. Unfortunately, there are villages in which for 20 years there have not stepped a foot of a writer. That is why we have proposed that our project should reach several localities in the country," said Claudia Balaban.

Poet Vasile Romanciuc said that due to these campaigns, he understood that year 2018 can be considered for him the year of beautiful children. "I was convinced that we have beautiful, smart and talented children. These meetings give us joy and make us understand that what you have done reaches the reader – the book is put to work. Because only the book can give us answers to our questions. It is often said that children do not like the book, but rather the mobile phone. It is a false alarm. Many children have said us that they are reading with their parents. The home where fairy – tales are read, the devil is not approaching – fears the light. And the book looks like light," specified Vasile Romanciuc.

Writer Aurelian Silvestru specified that "The angels disappear in the rain" is his fourth book, included in the national campaign: Let us read together! "I consider myself an author with experience in this project. I have great satisfaction with meeting readers, I am energised by them. The village meetings are special because there you find a lot of innocence, purity and sincerity. And this time, I was convinced that the children did not learn from us, but us from them. Because in front of the reader you see it in a mirror," said Aurelian Silvestru.

The most active readers were awarded with merit diplomas during the event.
