Chisinau, 10 January /MOLDPRES/-The sectoral action plan on anti-corruption in environmental protection for 2018-2020 will be published tomorrow in the Official Journal of Moldova.

According to the document, the problems currently existing in the field include fraudulent use of natural resources, excessive pollution of the environment, imperfect legal framework in the environmental protection, wasteful use of funds for environmental protection actions, low level of transparency in the decision-making process.

The anti-corruption goal for environmental sector is “strengthening integrity, responsibility, transparency and resistance to risks of corruption among civil servants employed in administrative authorities and public institutions in the environmental sector."

Thus, the authorities aim to optimize the institutional framework on the matter, to carry out raids on illegal cutting of forest vegetation to toughen penalties for fraudulent use of natural resources.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment will be responsible for controlling the implementation of the measures set in the plan.
