No traffic blockages recorded on national roads in Moldova

Chisinau, 12 January /MOLDPRES/ - All roads from Moldova are practicable and there are no traffic blockages. The press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, Liliana Puscasu, today made statements to this effect for MOLDPRES.  

According to Puscasu, last night, National Army rescuers and servicemen patrolled national roads, to provide assistance in risky situations.  

„They inspected the roads: Chisinau – Hancesti – Leova, Chisinau - Leuseni, Chisinau – Nisporeni, Chisinau - Straseni, Chisinau – Varnita – Anenii Noi, Razeni – Cainari, as well as Vadul lui Voda - Criuleni. Specialized teams checked the situation on these segments and intervened to tow transport means at risk,” Puscasu noted.  

The head of the operative service of the State Administration of Roads, Sergiu Capatina, said that works of patrol, snow-removal and combating the glazed frost had been carried out on Moldova’s roads during the last night.   

„No snowfall was recorded at night. As many as 210 special vehicles and 246 workers intervened in all. Roadmen used more than 1,376 tons of antiskid material. All dangerous segments are permanently monitored by roads’ managers and they intervene, if needed. Today, the road enterprises Drumuri (Roads) from the territory will carry out works or widening the roadways and footways and will spread antiskid material,” Sergiu Capatina said.    

At the same time, according to the official site of the Chisinau International Airport, there are no delays or cancellations of flights today. Also, the Customs Service said that the cross-border traffic had been resumed through the customs offices Leuseni, Basarabeasca and Ceadar-Lunga 2. Movement restrictions are maintained only at the wharf-type customs office Molovata, because of ice bridges formed on the Dniester river.  

Authorities urge drivers to move with low speed both in settlements and outside them, to keep a larger distance between vehicles, so that they manage the manoeuvre of braking, to avoid parking vehicles nearby trees.  

The Yellow Code of complicated weather conditions expired on 11 January. The weather will slightly warm on the days to come. The air temperature is to drop to -8 Celsius degrees in northern Moldova at night and will increase to +3 degrees in the southern region during the day.
