Moldovan foreign affairs minister, Croatian ambassador to Moldova discuss bilateral cooperation

Chisinau, 11 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan-Croatian cooperation, including on the European dimension, in the context of Croatia taking over the Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2020, as well as the bilateral dialogue in the multilateral format of the Council of Europe, were the principal subjects of discussion between Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi and Ambassador of Croatia to Moldova Davor Vidiš, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.    

At the meeting, the two officials reviewed the principal developments on the European dimension, related to the present electoral European context, Brexit, etc. At the same time, Tudor Ulianovschi and Davor Vidiš tackled also the events scheduled to be organized in 2019 to mark the tenth anniversary of the Eastern Partnership and Moldova’s expectations from the concerned actions.  The sides exchanged opinions on Croatia’s activities concerning the Eastern Partnership, conceived to be carried out as president of EU’s Council in the first half of 2020, especially on important segments of the sectoral cooperation, such as transport, energy connection, digital interconnection, etc.  

Another aspect approached at the meeting was focused on the bilateral cooperation between the two states on the multilateral platform of the Council of Europe. On this occasion, the Croatian diplomat presented the candidacy of his country, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia  Marija Pejčinović Burić for the office of Council of Europe Secretary General, with the concerned elections due to be held this year.
