Economics ministry forecasts increase in revenues at Moldova IT Park in 2019

Chisinau, 14 March /MOLDPRES/ - The IT sector of Moldova is in full development and the main stimulus is the model of the virtual IT Park. In 2019, a growth of about 40 per cent of the forecast income is estimated at the Moldova IT Park against the year before, amounting to 2.6 billion lei. Economics and Infrastructure Minister Chiril Gaburici has made statements to this effect at a meeting with the management and some residents of the Moldova IT Park.   

According to the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, in one year of work alone, the IT Park has recorded a number of 339 active residents, with an income from sales of about two billion lei, exceeding the forecast income by approximately 77 million lei. Thus, both the local exports and sales witnessed a significant increase during the last year, exceeding the volumes forecast. The local sales in the first of year of work of the residents in the new fiscal regime amounted to 373 million lei and the exports made by the park’s residents alone are 4.4-fold bigger, exceeding 1.6 billion lei. At the same time, the dynamic of increase was preserved also during the first two months of this year. Presently, 373 companies have the capacity of resident of the Moldova IT Park, of which 106 companies with foreign capital.    

Chiril Gaburici said that the human capital was one of the key elements in the IT sector’s development. “We have managed to create the best conditions for the residents, so that they can double the volume of sales, as well as the number of employees. In 2019, we expect an important increase of the number of residents, encouraged by the results of the companies registered so far. These are due including to an increased interest on behalf of foreign investors, which resulted in a number of 96 companies with foreign capital registered, from 27 countries. The origin of the foreign capital is preponderantly from the USA and the European Union,” the minister said.   

Data shows that the most demanded and profitable activities eligible at Moldova IT Park in 2018 were: services of making soft to order, data processing services, administration of web-pages and related activities.
