Chisinau, 17 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today participated in an event on unveiling the report on the work of the Moldova IT Park, one year after its launch. The PM said that this was a spiritual project for him, on which he had worked a lot ever since the time he worked as information technology and communications minister, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

„Nobody trusted this idea in the beginning; we were a small group of enthusiasts and I want to thank those who had confidence in this project. We had much insistence and courage and maybe it is the only project where more initiative came from governmental structures than from the IT industry,” Pavel Filip said.

The prime minister stressed that the investments in the IT sector were very important and this field was the chance of Moldova’s economic development. “I am happy that, in one year of the virtual IT Park’s work alone, we have 339 residents. The average monthly salary is of 28,000 lei – a salary which grew twice during one year. The income from sales has amounted to two billion lei,” Pavel Filip noted.

The PM specified that the establishment of a single seven-per cent tax for the residents of the IT parks was for the benefit of both the companies and the state, as in this way, nobody avoids the payment of taxes.

The prime minister also stressed that the digitization of the public services contributed to the diminution of the bureaucracy and corruption in the public institutions. Due to the use of the information technology, these services have become more transparent. An example in this respect is the Public Services Agency, where over 160 public services are provided through the single window.

Several companies, as well as employees in the Information Technology and Communications sector received the government’s Honorary Diploma, on the occasion of the World Communication and Information Society Day.
