Chisinau, 24 June /MOLDPRES/ – More housewives from village Vadul – Rascov, Soldanesti district, have participated in an EU project of restoring the folk costumes. The renovated costumes were recently exhibited in the house – museum of the late poet Dumitru Matcovschi.

The fabric was made from natural yarn, cotton yarn and natural wool. The gowns and girdles were woven by a folk mansion in village Lozova, Straseni district. They were reproduced by three inhabitants from Vadul – Rascov, Soldanesti district, and from Rascov commune, located on the left bank of the Dniester river. The works were guided by an ethnography expert, Varvara Buzila.

The women's shirt has a jacket, and above it is the tree of life – symbol of eternal youth and life without death, followed by finesse – bread of bride, symbol of abundance. The spine, ornamentation of sleeve between alleys and rivers, is sewn in the form of golden furrows, and on chest and on back, there are represented rivers with stylised flowers. It is a bride's shirt. It was attempted to make a replica as close as possible to the original.

The men's shirt in Vadul – Rascov is a tunic shirt. The most valuable ornamental composition, sewn to tradition, is placed on the shoulder and represents the land surrounded by water. The water colours refer to the meaning of land and water.

The treasures of the Dniester cliffs project was carried out by AO Casa de acasa in village Vadul – Rascov, Soldanesti district, in partnership with an initiative group in Rascov village, left bank of the Dniester river. The collaboration was financially supported by EU in the framework of the Confidence Building Measures Programme implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (PNUD).
