Almost 900 households to benefit from drinking water in southern district of Moldova

Chisinau, 12 July /MOLDPRES/ – The water supply network construction works in village Lebedenco, Cahul district, have recently been completed. Similarly, there were connected 884 individual households from localities Lebedenco, Hutulu and Ursoaia to the newly built aqueduct and in the nearest time will be able to benefit from quality drinking water, according to the South Regional Development Agency (ADR Sud).

The Cahul – Lebedenco – Pelinei – Gavanoasa – Vulcanesti – Alexandru Ioan Cuza magisterial aqueduct, which construction was partially executed from Cahul to Lebedenco, was built in the framework of a large – scale infrastructure project underway national level, with a total value of around €43 mln.

This is project: The construction of water supply and sewerage infrastructure and energy efficiency in public buildings funded by EU. It includes several investment measures in implementation process in the south of Moldova.

The investment measure: The construction of the Cahul – Lebedenco – Pelinei – Gavanoasa – Vulcanesti (villages) – Alexandru Ioan Cuza magistral aqueduct and the inner networks of villages Lebedenco, Hutulu, Ursoaia, Pelinei, Satuc, Gavanoasa, Vladimirovca ​​and Nicolaevca. Stage I implemented by ADR Sud in common with the International Cooperation Agency of Germany (GIZ).

The financial support for implementation of this investment measure, amounting to about MDL 58 mln, was granted by the Government of Switzerland through GIZ. Also, the beneficiary communities cofinanced the construction works of the aqueduct interior networks, participating with a contribution of around MDL 1.7 mln.

The project in the south of Moldova is carried out in cooperation with programme: Modernisation of local public services in Moldova, implemented by GIZ in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MADRM) and financially supported by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Government of Sweden, Government of Romania and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SADC).
