Moldovan meteorologists extend Yellow Code of drought, bonfire danger by one week

Chisinau, 13 September /MOLDPRES/ – The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has extended the Yellow Code of exceptional fire danger, until 18 September and the one of hydrological drought until 20 September.

The hydrologists report drought in the rivers and lakes of Moldova due to the lack of precipitation and high temperatures. Also, the economic agents and population are required to consume rationally the water resources.

The Yellow Code of exceptional fire danger is valid throughout Moldova, until 18 September. Thus, in the reference period, due to the lack of precipitation and high temperatures, it is forecast an exceptional danger of bonfire (class V) with natural character and threat of fire of forest strips and agricultural crops on a large part of Moldova.

In upcoming days, it will be maintained warm and sunny autumn temperatures, with thermal values of an average around 22ºC – 29ºC, daytime, and 10ºC – 15ºC at night. The meteorologists forecast variable sky, without precipitation.

In this context, the General Inspectorate of Emergency Situations (IGSU) has reiterated the warning on compliance with the fire regulations. The firefighters have asked the citizens not to light dry vegetation and household waste, avoid the ignition of ignition of wrinkles and stems, and in case of bonfires, even insignificant ones, call 112.

In case of Yellow Code, the weather conditions are potentially dangerous, the forecast meteorological phenomena are common for Moldova, it but may temporarily become dangerous for certain socio – economic activities.
