Chisinau, 13 September /MOLDPRES/ – The passengers of a floating bridge in Molovata were surprised with a classical music concert. Four young persons played the violin, viola and cello while travelling between the two banks of the Dniester river. The musicians performed songs from Bach, Mozart, but also from repertoires of Michael Jackson and Sting.

The recital has been held on Friday, 13 September, by the Moldovan National Youth Orchestra, which announced the launch of a large – scale project, funded by EU, which aims to bring closer the two banks of the Dniester.

"This unusual initiative to promote live music announces a very rich programme, in which culture and music will bring different communities closer together. EU is very proud to be part of this initiative,” said project manager within EU Delegation to Moldova, Fabien Schaeffer.

Within the Music Connecting People project, there will be organised 10 concerts for 10 months, 09 of which will take place on the left bank of the Dniester. The tour involves 100 musicians from both banks of the Dniester, from EU, USA, Ukraine and Russia.

"Music is the best way to bring people closer together and best tool to facilitate communication. We are glad that 09 out of 10 concerts will be held on the left bank of the Dniester,” said conductor of Moldovan National Youth Orchestra, Andriano Marian.

The Music Connecting People project starts on Friday with an open – air concert at Guesthouse Karaman in Ternovka village, located to the left of the Dniester, near Tiraspol city. It will be attended by 04 musicians who will perform both classical and pop music. The project is funded by EU throughout the EU programme: The measures to promote trust, implemented by UNDP Moldova.
