Delegation of Venice Commission visited Moldova

Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/- Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanîi met on 20 September a group of expert reporters of the Venice Commission, led by Simona Granata-Menghini, the deputy secretary of the Commission, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

The meeting was attended by the head and deputy head of the legal commission on rules and immunities, Sergiu Litvinenco and Vasile Bolea.

The sides discussed the actions taken by the parliamentary majority in reforming justice, strengthening judiciary system and fighting against corruption.

Greceanîi stressed the importance of the assistance and expertise of the Venice Commission in implementing the justice and prosecution reform. Also, she noted that the reform should be carried out exclusively in the interest of citizens, its effects should be sustainable.

Simona Granata-Menghini said that the Venice Commission is always ready to defend the constitutionality and the rule of law and to offer the Republic of Moldova the necessary support in this regard.
