Chisinau, 09 October /MOLDPRES/ – The freight carriers will be able to pre – schedule the crossing of the border through an online application. The new system has been made public by the representatives of USAID Structural Reforms Programme in Moldova (USAID Programme).

The presentation reflected upon the principles of operation of the new programming system, which is similar to that applied in several European states. Specifically, the freight carriers will have the opportunity to pre – plan their time for crossing the border, through an online application adapted to any device: computer, tablet or GSM.

The Customs Service (SV) has announced that the system will be a solution for decongestion of traffic at customs posts. According to a Memorandum of Understanding (MI), previously signed by SV and USAID Programme, at the first stage, the system would be implemented under a testing regime at the Sculeni customs station, given that the level of the flow of lorries through this station is within a steady growth.

Also, for decongestion of the cross – border traffic, SV has elaborated and submitted for examination to the Romanian party a draft Procedure regarding the assuming of responsibilities and the way of collaboration of the relevant authorities of Moldova and Romania in carrying out the processing of a volume established by means of freight transport within 24 hours, in order to ensure a continuous flow of vehicles at the Moldovan – Romanian border. With the implementation of the Border Programming System (SPF), the elaborated procedure will contribute to the efficient functioning of the online planning process of the border crossing, without queues or crowds at the crossing points.
