Moldovan head of state has meeting with president of Moldovagaz stock company's administrative board

Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/ – The President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, has had a working meeting, on Friday, 18 October, with the head of the Board of Directors of SA Moldovagaz, Vadim Ceban, the presidency’s press service has reported.

The parties discussed aspects regarding the latest developments in the natural gas market, the negotiations with SAP Gazprom and other issues related to ensuring the proper functioning of the natural gas supply system of Moldovan consumers.

In the spirit of the agreements Igor Dodon had with the management of Gazprom, the president was informed that there is already a principle agreement at the level of Gazprom and Moldovagaz to extend the contract for the supply of natural gas, starting with 01 January 2020, the parties will shortly announce the signing of the contract.

In this context, Vadim Ceban noted that there are all the premises to reduce the purchase price of Russian gas, starting in 2020. Also, the head of state has received assurances that the tariffs for final consumers, this year, will not increase.

The president of the country specified that, although there is hope that the transit of Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine will be ensured, the signing of the contract with Gazprom will also provide the possibility of taking natural gas at any point of delivery, including abroad with other states, and the system operators. gas of the respective countries will ensure the transport of natural gas to the border of Moldova, according to the existing rules.

Also, Vadim Ceban informed Igor Dodon about the actions taken by the company to ensure the transportation of natural gas in reverse regime through the trans – Balkan corridor. According to him, the specialists of gas transport system from four states – Moldova, Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria, are working in this direction, the delegation of Moldovagaz being present in Sofia for discussions with his colleagues from Bulgartransgaz.

A particular topic of the discussion was the current activity of company. For the moment, it is being carried out an internal audit at the company, with several gaps in the activity of the subsidiaries of SA Moldovagaz being detected. The head of state welcomed the fact that the new management of the company is already taking measures, including administrative ones, in order to eliminate these gaps and improve the activity of the Moldovagaz group of companies.
