Chisinau, 11 November /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today had a meeting with the head of the Administrative Board of the Moldovagaz stock company, Vadim Ceban, the presidential press service has reported.

At the meeting, the head of state was informed that Moldovagaz and the public joint stock company Gazprom had reached an agreement and were ready to sign, in the nearest time, annexes to the contract in force on the transportation of natural gas. Presently, experts of the two sides coordinate the annexes on the extension of the current contract for a three-year term.

Before the signing of the contract with Gazprom, to ensure a reliable supply of the natural gas, the stock company Moldovagaz needs that three important documents are coordinated, approved and signed by its leadership bodies: the contract on supply of natural gas; contract on the transportation of natural gas across Ukraine, which is to be signed with the Ukrainian carrier; Interconnection Agreement for the points Alexeevca, Grebeniki, Causeni for the joint Ukrainian operator and the technical agreement for the joint balance at the Gas Measurement Station (SMG) Causeni and  SMG Orlovka, between operators of Ukraine and Moldova.

On the period September-October 2019, the stock company coordinated with Gazprom the extension of the contract in force for 2020-2022. The contract sees the conditions for the supply of natural gas for Moldova’s consumers by three alternative ways: at the border with Russia and Ukraine (SMG Sudja and SMG Valuiki), at the border with Romania and Ukraine (SMG Isaccea and SMG Orlovka), in other points of entrance in the gas system of Ukraine, through the Trans-Balkan corridor, at the western border with the EU countries.

On 12 November, the Moldovagaz stock company’s representatives, along with representatives of the Moldova’s Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, will move to SMG Isaccea, SMG Orlovka and Negru Voda, to meet its partners from Romania and Ukraine.

Vadim Ceban said that the Moldovagaz stock company was prepared to receive about 12.4 million cubic metres of natural gas per day, following the last activities held jointly with operators of gas transport from Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine and Moldova. The Romanian and Ukrainian sides have already officially confirmed the completion of all works.

At the meeting, Igor Dodon reiterated that the basic priority was to avoid problems dealing with Moldova’s gas supply. If the transit of gas is ceasing across Ukraine, starting from 1 January 2020, we will consider also others variants of transportation,” the head of state said.

Vadim Ceban gave assurances that Moldova would not have difficulties in this respect. At the same time, the Moldovan president expressed willingness to politically get involved and hold discussions with the leadership of Russia, Romania and Ukraine, if eventual problems appear.
