Moldovan Socialists' Republican Council holds meeting

Chisinau, 14 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Republican Council of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) today held its first meeting from 2020 and established the formation’s priorities for this year. Attending the event were President Igor Dodon and Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban.    

At the end of the Council’s meeting, the head of state said that the participants in the today’s event had discussed more subjects on Moldova’s development. He noted that the participants had not talked about a PSRM candidate for the presidential polls; yet, Dodon gave assurances that this candidate would be the best. “There is time till the starting of the electoral campaign and we will see whether the parliament accepts the date of 8 November for the presidential elections,” Igor Dodon said.     

In the end of the Council’s meeting, the participants adopted a declaration, in which they nominated eight priorities for 2020. Among them, there is the strengthening of Moldova’s statehood, guaranteeing the country’s neutrality status, development of the economy, etc.  

“PSRM speaks out for mechanisms through which the state should protect the native producers and the agricultural sector. At the same time, we deem as extremely important an active policy of the state for improving the living standards of the citizens and backing the socially vulnerable categories of the residents, as well as the implementation of social projects and initiatives of the head of state to this end,” the declaration reads.

Among the priorities set by the Socialists, there are also the development of medicine and education, regions’ development, preservation of the inter-ethnic stability, protection of the Orthodoxy and the values of the family, as well as the promotion of a balanced foreign policy.  

Presently, PSRM representatives lead 21 districts, 19 cities and towns, of which eight district centres, and 190 villages.
