Moldovan PM chairs cabinet meeting

Chisinau, 15 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today chaired a cabinet meeting. In the beginning of the meeting, the PM referred to the passing away of artist Stefan Petrache and asked his colleagues to stand silent for one minute, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

The prime minister afterwards presented a report on the instrument of monitoring the implementation of the government’s Action Plan, noting that the plan would be soon placed on the government’s webpage. Ion Chicu said that he had had a discussion with Moldova’s Prosecutor General, within which the sides confirmed intention to periodically inform the society about the evolution of the cases with high impact in justice.  

The prime minister asked the interior minister for information on the crime situation in Moldova and the problem of traffic accidents. Pavel Voicu informed the PM that the Prosecutor’s Office was managing the case of the murder from Costesti and the Interior Ministry (MAI) would assess the promptitude and correctness of the actions of the Police. In the context, the prime minister asked to evaluate especially the efficiency of the leadership factors of the Police.  

The prime minister asked MAI and the Finance Ministry till 15 February to submit proposals meant to strengthen the institute of the district policeman. “The district policeman is the person who must know the settlement and its residents best of all. The efficient work of the district policeman contributes to the prevention of crimes and quick discovery of the committed ones. We will provide to the district policemen everything necessary, so that they more efficiently fulfill their task,” the prime minister said.  

PM Chicu showed interest in the progress on the dimension of the tenders for the roads’ construction. Economics Infrastructure Minister Anatol Usatii informed that 5 out of 17 consignments meant for international bidding had been already published.

„All acquisitions are published on the M-Tender information platform and we ensure maximal transparency. We inform the embassies accredited in Moldova about these tenders and ask for their support in informing the companies interested to participate,” Minister Usatii said.    

The prime minister asked the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry (MEI) to directly contact big regional companies and inform them about the Moldovan government’s intentions to contract services on roads’ construction, noting that the works must start as soon as it is possible.

The PM informed that a meeting with all mayors of Moldova would be held on 22 January. At the event, the local authorities will be informed about the projects initiated by the government both on the construction of roads and of networks of aqueducts and sewerage, as well as the liquidation of unauthorized waste deposits. 

The participants in the cabinet meeting approved a draft law which provides for the setting up of a national council for the problems of the war veterans and a regulation on its work. The chairmanship of the council will be taken over by the Defence Ministry, which, through the administrative and military bodies, manages the processing of the acts of the war veterans. The draft law is to create needed premises for the development and consolidation of the capacities of the council for carrying out an efficient activity.     

Also today, the cabinet ruled to dissolve the Centre for Reforms’ Implementation.
