Medical employees, policemen, military to undergo testing for COVID-19

Chisinau, 26 March /MOLDPRES/ - The medical employees, who are on the first line of fight against the coronavirus, as well as the policemen and military will undergo the testing for COVID-19. At the same time, decision-makers discuss the testing of Moldovans who return from abroad. President Igor Dodon today made statements to this effect following a meeting of the single command centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.   

The head of state said that today he would come up with more proposals to the Commission for Emergency Situations, among which the compulsory testing of the medical staff from the first line, policemen and servicemen.

„We propose testing for all physicians involved in the detecting and treatment of the COVID-19 cases; it is about at least 10,000 people; the testing will be made periodically. The tests will be free of charge for the police, especially for the border police, as well as the rest of the policemen,’’ Dodon said.

He underlined that all Moldovan citizens who return from risk regions would undergo testing. Also, when entering the country, they should buy health insurance policies, in order to back Moldova’s medical system.   

The Moldovan president specified that he would ask the Commission for Emergency Situations to declare next week as free one for the public sector employees, but with the maintaining of the salary. Dodon also said that another proposal he is to make for the Commission was dealing with the establishment of a special restricted regime of citizens’ movement at night.    

Igor Dodon also said that the Presidency had given up expenses worth four million lei – money due to be used for the management of the situation as to the spread of COVID-19. He urged also the other state structures and enterprises to revise their budgets.
