Moldovan top leadership participates in ordinary meeting

Chisinau, 29 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today participated in an ordinary meeting of the top leadership, along with Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii and Prime Minister Ion Chicu, the presidential press service has reported.  

The officials tackled five important subjects, of which the first one is the epidemiological situation in Moldova. The sides found out a friendlier dynamic in terms of spread of COVID-19 than in the weeks before. The officials said that, if the tendency was maintained, in the near future, the government would propose cancellation of the compulsory 14-day quarantine for the Moldovan citizens who return to Moldova from abroad after 15 July.    

At the same time, the authorities will come up with a proposal to open the kindergartens, initially in rural settlements and depending on the situation, in each region.  The head of state reiterated that the final decision belonged to specialists in the public health sector.

The second subject deals with the recent floods in the Dniester and Prut  rivers’ meadows. The interlocutors ascertained the stabilization of the situation and the lack of destroyed dwellings; yet, the risk is maintained in several regions along these two rivers. At the same time, the officials said that no serious investments had been made in the construction and reconstruction of dams in the last 12 years; therefore, the government will make an urgent evaluation of the works which must be carried out to this end.      

The third subject includes the next meeting of the parliament and the ruling coalition (Party of Socialists (PSRM) + Democratic Party (PDM) ), in order discuss the working agenda for the next days.  

The subject four regards the economic situation in Moldova and first of all, the budget revenues, which are by 270 million lei higher in June 2020 than in the same month of the year before. ‘’This fact allows us return to the implementation of social and infrastructure projects, including the repair of roads, supply with water and sewerage, backing the farming sector, small- and medium-sized business, industrial parks. At the same time, we will discuss with the government also the doubling of the salaries to all medical employees, just as we have earlier agreed upon,’’ Igor Dodon stressed.     

The last subject of the today’s agenda deals with the results of the working visit to Moscow by the Moldovan president. The head of state noted that Russia’s leadership was open for the resumption of the negotiations for the providing of a loan worth 200 million euros for supporting the Moldovan economy, due to be invested in roads’ construction, financial support for economic agents, etc. The Moldovan leadership plans to start the concerned negotiations this week. At the same time, Igor Dodon specified that the Russian side had ruled to extend the period of tax free import in native agricultural and agro-industrial products to Russia.
