Chisinau, 30 June /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii today conveyed a message on the occasion of the International Day of Parliamentarism, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

The message reads:

”The Inter-Parliamentary Union – the oldest international organization of Parliaments, was created 31 years ago. Since then, the International Day of Parliamentarism has been annually marked on 30 June. I congratulate the colleagues MPs on this occasion, which regards us directly, as Moldova’s parliament is member of this honourable world organization.

The Day of Parliamentarism is an occasion to repeatedly evaluate the actions which we undertake for the benefit of the citizens. I have to ascertain that the efforts to initiate and adopt hundreds of important laws and decisions for people, especially on this critical period, are thwarted by the political party switching of some lawmakers, which showed itself as cynically as possible, including today, on the International Day of Parliamentarism. These are shameful and degrading decisions, which compromise the image of the parliamentary institution in the eyes of the country’s citizens and the international community. The MPs who start political corruption processes have no chance to regain their reputation and, unfortunately, ever less chances are left for re-establishing the full confidence of the people in the entire parliamentary institution.

In the emerged situation, the parliamentary majority will look for new solutions, in order to avoid the final discrediting of the office of MP and, the most important thing, to help the state and the citizens avoid catastrophes, face the dangers and maintain a normal regime of life and work.’’
